The Books That Matter

I am Xandy. Reading a book is not my past time, I make time for it. My To-Read folder is overflowing. And I am always battling with my Currently-Reading folder.

I fell in love with reading ever since time memorial. A good book is a book I will read very slowly just to get every detail; a book that will always be reread; a book with no stupid characters; a book that will make me cry, whine, shout as if I was actually in it; and a book that makes me feel like or be a better person. :D

The Memory Keeper's Daughter - Kim Edwards This book deserves a 5-star without the hot sexy lead character, without the romantic sides but at how it encompasses life and the bitter end of everything. I've read this almost a year ago but, after all this time, I remember every little point of the story, this book had really been outstanding for me. It's a story about a father, who is a doctor who had to aid her wife deliver a twins. One is a healthy boy but, sadly, the other has been an 'abnormal' baby girl. He chose to give up the baby girl to the nurse who was hopelessly in love with him. And the wife has no idea of her poor little girl being alive since the father told her she died and buried her right away. With the boy, they had a well-off life until everything goes into chaos. It was a real tragedy. I felt the sadness, the regrets, the sincerity and all. The book gave me a taste of how bitter life can be, it's not all about happy church endings. We all know there's more than that. :)
